Far from the well-guarded walls of the capital, Xaela grew up in the distant Colony C. Thralls are a constant threat, and its inhabitants are used to a harsh lifestyle. Xaela was once considered their "deadweight", doing very little to help the Colony. In reality, she couldn't bear everyone disparaging her even when she did her best.

After her sister Helena died at sea, Xaela commanded a rescue effort to retrieve her soul. Though she's the only one who can see Helena, she's indispensable to the New Order's military unit, and even helped slay the Titan that took her sister's life. Whether or not they believe her about Helena's spirit, she's gained the respect of the New Order and its followers.
